Sir Edward Clay was the non-resident British Ambassador to Rwanda in 1994 when that country suffered the horrors of genocide. He will be talking to a meeting organised by TWOAT at St John’s Hall, Station Approach, Tadworth, KT20 5AB (opposite the railway station) on the evening of March 11th with the topic:“Rwanda 1994;Never Again?” Doors will open at 7.30pm.
This meeting will provide a rare opportunity for those interested in the modern history and development of Africa to hear from someone who was directly involved with the diplomatic reaction of the British and other governments as a national tragedy unfolded.
Tickets can be obtained from Mike Fox (01737 350452) priced at £5. Funds and donations raised during the evening will be passed to International Alert (see a video clip by clicking here) a charity recommended by Sir Edward concerned with peace and reconciliation in Rwanda and another project running health camps in nearby Uganda that has already been regularly supported by TWOAT.
